Posterior Segment Ultrasonography

B-Scan Echography

Ophthalmic ultrasonography uses non-invasive, high-frequency sound waves, which are transmitted from a probe into the eye. As the sound waves strike intraocular structures, they are reflected back to the probe and converted into an image of the posterior (the back) portion of the eye. This technology is valuable when the view into the eye is obscured or to measure and monitor growth of a lesion.
